These are the first and second apps in the full ranking, and I paid for both: Candy Premium for more than two weeks in May 2026, then OurDream Deluxe. Six criteria decide the order. OurDream wins two, Candy wins one, and three end level.

OurDream vs Candy: who wins each criterion?

Conversation goes to OurDream, 9.0 to 8.5. Both write fluid short exchanges, and Candy’s Romance mode is its best chat setting. OurDream pulls ahead over long runs. Those who keep the same OurDream companion for weeks find she still sounds like herself, and that steadiness is what brings them back to the same chat.

Memory goes to OurDream by a full point, 9.0 to 8.0. OurDream documents four layers of memory, and paying members can pin the details they want kept. Candy’s answer is Premium Plus, with 20 memory slots.

Media is level at 9.5. Candy keeps a character’s face consistent from one image to the next and runs Live Action clips of up to 120 seconds. Ask Candy for a picture on Monday and another on Friday, a different dress and a different room, and the same face looks back at you both times. Several Candy subscribers count those Live Action clips as the thing they had not found anywhere else. OurDream generates clips from 5 to 60 seconds, at 100 coins for ten seconds, with speech you can add once the clip is made, and its new video generator never failed during my Deluxe subscription. Swipey AI holds the only 10 for media. Candy has voice messages, with live calls labeled beta in September 2026; OurDream has live voice calls at 10 coins a minute.

Customization is level at 10. Candy’s builder shapes a companion down to the details; OurDream’s six-step builder sits next to a community library of more than 11 million user-made characters. Shaping a partner is also how the Replika alternatives ranking is ordered, and Candy wins it on price.

Value is level at 9.25, for opposite reasons. Candy is cheaper in dollars but its tokens expire at each renewal. OurDream costs more, and its coins stay in the account: mine were still there after I cancelled.

Billing and trust goes to Candy, 9.0 to 8.5. Cancelling Candy took me four clicks and two confirmations after a single question, with no discount on the way out, and the charge shows as EverAI on a bank statement. Cancelling OurDream took four screens, one of them an offer to stay at 30 percent off.

What does a year cost on each app?

On yearly billing, Candy Premium costs $47.88 and OurDream Premium costs $119.88, so OurDream is 2.5 times the price. Month to month the gap is smaller: $13.99 against $19.99, and Candy’s first month costs $9.99.

The included credits change the math. Candy gives 100 tokens a month; it does not publish a price per action, and third party guides put an image at 2 to 4 tokens, so the allowance covers roughly 25 to 50 images. OurDream gives 1,000 coins a month, plus free coins on a yearly plan, and in October 2026 the app charged 5 coins for an image and 100 coins for ten seconds of video. That is about 200 images, or 100 seconds of video, before any top-up. Candy’s terms reset its tokens at renewal and on cancellation; OurDream’s coins do not reset.

Picture a Sunday night on OurDream. You ask for a clip with audio, she is at the kitchen counter in a robe, glances over her shoulder, says your name and smiles until the clip ends. Ten seconds of that come to 100 of the monthly coins, and whatever you leave unspent stays in the account for the next one.

If the yearly budget is the deciding line, Candy’s $3.99 yearly plan is the cheapest way into either app. If you plan to generate a lot of images each month, OurDream’s yearly Premium gives more media per dollar.

Which one should you pick?

Pick OurDream AI if you run long stories and want the companion to remember them, if you generate images or clips every week, or if you want credits that never reset. Its Deluxe tier adds 5,000 coins a month for heavy use.

Pick Candy AI if you want the lowest entry price on the list, a builder that matches OurDream’s top grade, and the cleaner exit of the two. It is also the better pick when a monthly bill under $5 matters more than the last point of memory.

The final call

My pick is OurDream AI on the yearly Premium plan, at $9.99 a month. It wins the two criteria that shape a relationship over weeks, conversation and memory, and its coins keep their value. Candy AI is the right answer for a capped budget: at $3.99 a month it delivers the same media and customization grades for 40 percent of the price.
