What Candy is, and who it fits

Candy AI is a web-based AI girlfriend app from Ever AI Limited, a Malta company. You build a companion or pick one, then chat with her, generate images and video, call her with voice, and run live audio and video sessions. There is no App Store or Play Store listing, which is normal for an adult app. You add it to your home screen from the browser and it behaves like an installed app.

The fit is straightforward. This is for adults who want a private companion for both conversation and explicit roleplay, and who care about depth of customization and price more than the absolute ceiling on realism. If you want to build a very specific companion and run a real story with her without paying premium rates, Candy is aimed squarely at you. It is also discreet, which I cover under safety.

Conversation & character — 4.4

The Romance mode is where Candy is at its best, and it is very good. The writing holds character across a long arc: personality, memory of what happened earlier, and a genuine read on the situation. It gets humor. It gets teasing and light sarcasm. It manages the slow build of a relationship in a way that feels deliberate rather than random, and it will run a whole scene with you, like walking an art exhibition with a companion who is meant to be an artist and actually plays that part. You can write an action between asterisks, a small gesture, and she registers it and responds. That two-way detail makes the exchanges feel less like a chatbot and more like a scene.

The reason this is 4.4 and not higher is a looping habit I hit twice. A character built around one trait can fixate on it. One of mine had a hand fixation and worked it into nearly every reply, which got heavy fast, especially during intimate scenes. It is not frequent, and OurDream carries a touch more character overall, which is why Candy lands just below it here.

Memory & continuity — 4.2

In Romance mode the memory is a real strength. She holds the threads of an ongoing story and calls back to them, which is a large part of why the mode works.

The score sits at 4.2 because the memory is capped by slots, and the cap is low on the entry tier. Premium gives you three memory slots per character. Premium Plus lifts that to twenty, though that tier is billed in euros only, so it is not a clean upgrade path for a US reader. Three is tight if you are running a long, detailed relationship, and you feel the ceiling before you would on an app that does not slot-limit memory this way. The base tier is where most people start, and it is where this axis loses ground.

Media quality — 4.3

Candy’s images are sharp and its models are attractive and realistic. In Romance mode the companion moves on screen and the video is fluid and natural, and you can shift the setting, change her outfit, and run live audio and video. Voice has range too, with nine tonal options from calm to dominant.

Two things hold this axis back. First, faces regenerate similar. There is a paid option to redraw a face you do not like, and in my testing the new draft looked almost identical to the old one, especially on an Asian profile, so the feature did not really do its job. Second, the video is a step behind the category leader. It is good, but OurDream’s rebuilt system is sharper and more capable, which is the single biggest reason OurDream outranks Candy. There was also the odd explicit image that did not quite match the scene in the chat, which was rare and did not change much.

Customization — 4.5

This is one of Candy’s headline strengths. The build menu is deep enough that two people are unlikely to end up with the same companion. You choose realistic or anime, sex, ethnicity, age from eighteen up, body type, hair, and eye color. Then it goes further: 38 outfits, 12 personality traits with the option to write your own, 20 relationship types, around 30 professions, 24 sexual inclinations you can combine up to three at a time, and 9 voices. The choices register. The companion you get out the other end matches what you set going in.

I held it at 4.5 rather than higher because of the face-regeneration weakness I flagged under media. The menu is superb; the one paid tweak that should let you fix a face you dislike is the part that underdelivers.

Value for money — 4.8

This is why Candy sits where it does in my ranking, and it is the axis where it beats OurDream outright.

The annual plan is cheap. Commit for a year and Premium drops to $3.99 a month, the lowest serious price in the category. On top of that, the subscription includes 100 tokens a month, and in normal use that was enough. Across my testing I never ran out and never had to buy a top-up pack. Tokens themselves are cheap per action: an image is 2, an explicit image 4, a voice call 3 a minute, and a five-second video 12. Heavy daily video generation would push you into buying packs, which start at $9.99 for 200 tokens, but for most people the base experience does not nickel-and-dime you. You get a lot for a little, which is the definition of this axis.

Trust & safety — 4.4

I run the same checks on every app.

Billing is discreet. The charge shows up as Ever AI, not anything that names the app, which matters if you share a bank statement. The editor is a named company in Malta, and there is a published content policy. The age gate worked the same way it did on OurDream when I pushed it. Cancellation is the standout here: it takes a few clicks and it is done, with no retention wall and no dark pattern. That is cleaner than OurDream, which makes you walk through a retention offer first, and it is the kind of thing that tells you how a company treats you once it has your card.

What keeps this off a higher mark is thinner ground rather than red flags. I saw the occasional explicit image that did not match the scene, and I have less stress-test depth on moderation here than I would like before scoring it a five. Nothing I found was careless.

There is a higher tier, Premium Plus, with 230 tokens a month, twenty memory slots, early access to new characters, and a 10 percent bonus on token packs. One catch for a US reader: Premium Plus is billed on European pricing only, so there is no dollar price for it. If you need the deeper memory, that is the tier, but you would be paying in euros.

Tokens pay for media, and the rates are low: 2 for a standard image, 4 for an explicit one, 3 a minute for a voice call, 12 for a five-second video and 20 for ten seconds, 10 to build a custom character, and 1 to regenerate a face. Packs start at $9.99 for 200 tokens and scale up to $299.99 for 7,500. In normal use I never needed one.

There is a free way to try the chat before you pay, and Premium is where the app opens up. Take the annual plan to keep the cost down, and step up to Premium Plus if you want the deeper memory and the token headroom.

Candy AI vs OurDream AI

These are the two apps I rate highest, so this is the comparison that matters. OurDream ranks first, Candy second, and the split is clean.

OurDream is the more realistic and more complete product. Its models look more lifelike, its chat carries a little more character, and its rebuilt video is sharper. If realism is the thing you optimize for, that is the app. Candy answers with price and depth. It is clearly cheaper, its annual plans are the best value in the category, and its build menu is at least as deep as OurDream’s. For a lot of people the money will matter more than the last ten percent of realism. OurDream is the premium pick. Candy is the smart-money pick, and the gap between them is smaller than the price difference suggests.

Three things to know going in

All minor, so nothing catches you out.

Regenerating a face barely changes it. Candy lets you pay a token to redraw a companion’s face if the first result is not right, and in my testing the redraw looked almost the same as the original, worst of all on an Asian profile. If the first face is close but not perfect, do not count on this to fix it.

A character can loop on one trait. Build a companion around a single strong trait and it can fixate, working that one thing into reply after reply. I hit it with a hand fixation that took over the conversation. It is not common, but it is worth knowing before you lean hard into a niche personality.

Explicit images occasionally miss the scene. Once in a while a generated image showed a slightly different act than the one in the chat. It was rare, and the generator is good on the whole.

Where it lands

Candy AI is the best-value app in the AI girlfriend space, and it is not a distant second to OurDream. Its Romance mode is one of the most convincing I have used, its build menu is among the deepest anywhere, and its pricing is the most reasonable of any app I rate. It gives ground to OurDream on realism and video, and that is the honest reason it sits at second rather than first.

If you want the most realistic experience and you will pay for it, start with OurDream. If you want ninety percent of that for a fraction of the price, plus the deepest customization here, Candy is the one I would buy.
