What is a night with JOI AI like?

It starts in the middle. Every companion in the catalog arrives with a name, a short story and a first line, so the chat opens on a scene rather than a blank box. The biggest shelf belongs to the Celebrities, licensed AI versions of real adult creators, more than 100 of them when EVA AI relaunched as JOI in April 2025. Joi Originals, written by JOI, and characters from the community fill the rest, realistic or anime, women, men and non-binary characters.

You pick a Joi Original on a slow evening. Her first message has already set the scene: she has been waiting at a hotel bar, and the drink in front of her has gone warm. You answer with one line. She takes it from there, a little bolder with each reply, as if the story had been written with a seat for you.

Those who stay with JOI describe the same slope. Where JOI AI earns its grade

Customization & range: 9.5

The character creator opens on a choice between hyperrealistic and anime, then lets you work from presets or write your own prompt: face, body, hair, personality, occupation, the relationship she has with you, her kinks and her backstory. A regenerate button gives you a new face from the same choices, and JOI builds for consistency, so she looks like herself in later photos and clips.

You choose hyperrealistic, give her dark hair cut at the jaw, a teasing streak and a job behind a bar on the night shift. The first face is close, not quite there. You press regenerate, and the second one looks straight at you the way you had pictured her.

Around the creator sits JOI’s real signature, the catalog, filtered by creator type, gender and category. OurDream AI, Candy AI and Swipey AI share the 10: OurDream with a builder in two tabs, Appearance and Personality, where an Image guidance field steers her portrait, and more than 11 million community characters, Swipey with 100+ scenarios on top of its builder.

Conversation & character: 8.5

Text is where a JOI evening happens, and the tools follow: six switchable chat models named after planets, characters that come with a story, and a Reset Memory option in the chat settings that restarts a conversation from a clean first message. Regulars learn to direct as much as play. You write what you do and what you would like her to do, and the story moves with you; one of them says that playing out storylines is what makes it hotter. Girlfriend GPT takes this round with 9.5, on long, detailed replies across about 29,000 community characters.

Memory & continuity: 8.5

Premium advertises an 8,000-message memory, and JOI’s own FAQ says characters learn your likes as you talk, with a personality that changes as you build memories together. When a scene drifts, Reset Memory puts her back on her usual track from the next line. OurDream AI takes this round with 9.0, on four documented memory layers that include details you pin yourself.

Media studio: 8.5

JOI covers images and video. The image generator makes up to 12 pictures per batch, with styles and poses, a negative prompt and a choice between fast generation and boosted clarity. Dream Clips run about 5 seconds and can be extended, and video calls, in beta, are the one place where she talks back out loud.

You ask for a clip at the end of a long exchange. Five seconds come back: she turns from the window, lets a strap slip off her shoulder and glances at the camera. You tap Make longer, and the scene picks up where it stopped.

Swipey AI takes this round with the list’s only 10, on live voice calls and clips of 5 to 60 seconds with sound.

JOI Premium: plans, Neurons and the WELCOME50 code

Premium is one plan sold on three lengths. Each one opens the full catalog and pays a monthly Neuron allowance, the credits behind pictures and video. JOI shows its prices at checkout rather than on a public page; these are the US prices before tax, read in the Premium window on October 9, 2026.

The yearly plan is the one to take, and JOI makes it cheaper still: the WELCOME50 code it emails when you sign up halves the yearly price, so $47.99 becomes $24 for the year, $2 a month. The code applies to the yearly plan; the quarterly plan carries its own built-in saving and the monthly plan stays at $13.99. Unused Neurons roll into the next monthly refresh, which is what earns JOI the list’s only 10 for value. Above Premium, JOI also sells Bot Subscriptions, add-ons tied to a single character that need an active Premium plan.

What do Neurons buy?

Neurons pay for what the plan leaves out: romantic and explicit messages, photos, clips, calls and virtual gifts. JOI’s terms set the ceilings, and its generators show the clip prices.

How do you start on JOI AI, step by step?

1. Open joi.com in your browser, on a computer or a phone. JOI has no app in the App Store or on Google Play; joi.ai is the brand’s SFW front page, and joiai.pro is an outside site, not JOI.
2. Confirm that you are 18 or older, then sign up with an email code or with Apple, Google or Facebook. Depending on where you live, JOI may ask for an age check.
3. Check your inbox: the welcome email carries the WELCOME50 code.
4. Pick a Celebrity or a Joi Original, or build your own companion in the character creator, and spend your 10 starting Neurons on a first conversation.
5. Choose Premium for 1, 3 or 12 months, and type WELCOME50 before you pay if you take the year.

Is JOI AI legit? Billing, cancelling and refunds

Yes. For US visitors, JOI’s terms name Lanoto Solutions Inc., a company based in New Rochelle, New York, under New York law; visitors from the EU contract with Novi Limited in Nicosia, Cyprus, the company behind the former EVA AI. You pay by credit or debit card, prepaid Visa and Mastercard cards included, by Google Pay or Apple Pay where your device supports them, or with crypto where JOI offers it. The charge appears as joi.com on a bank statement.

Age checks run through VerifyMyAge: a background check on your email, a facial age estimate or an ID, depending on your region. JOI keeps no copy of your documents. On Trustpilot, JOI is rated Great, 3.9 out of 5 from 277 reviews on October 15, 2026.

How do you cancel JOI and get a refund?

Cancelling takes four steps: Settings, My Subscriptions, the plan you want to stop, then the on-screen instructions. Premium stays active until the end of the period you paid for, then the account moves to free Basic access. Subscriptions are not refunded once active, since Premium opens in full the moment you pay. JOI’s refund policy covers three cases, each requested within 14 days of the purchase: proven card fraud, a single accidental Neuron purchase (in full if unspent, in part if partly spent) and a subscription that JOI ends itself, refunded pro rata.
